About Me
I'm a geek. I've been a geek pretty much all my life, and certainly since I started work with computers, over 20 years ago now. I'm starting to get quite good at it, I've had a lot of practice! Don't worry, I won't bore you with the technical details, unless you want me to! In which case, I suggest a pint in the local. Frankly, in my experience, most people are not all that interested in what I do, any more than they are interested in what their accountant does!
Most small businesses are great at what they started out to do, but running your own business often means being your own boss, your own secretary, your own time manager, your own accountant, your own sales team, your own marketing director and your own technology expert. That's a pretty tall order! Some people could use a bit of help with the technology side, particularly making the most of their web presence and how to use and link up various technologies that are available either free or at low cost, in a coherent way to help with their marketing strategy. That's where I come in.
Frankly I like small businesses. I've worked for lots of companies, large and small over the years, and something I've noticed is that it's the people in smaller businesses who are the most passionate about what they do. They are innovative and creative, they take risks, and they do things for reasons that are interesting, such as creating a lovely thing for its own sake. If I can help more small businesses survive and thrive against the odds, then the way I see it, that's more people doing what they are passionate about, more people creating lovely and innovative things and more people really living their lives! That's exciting! That's why I started this programme.
A little more about me? OK, well when I'm not being a geek, I'm a BASI Level 1 qualified snowboard instructor, and also a UKCC level 1 coach in canoeing. I like adventures, walks in the country, particularly hills with nice views and prefer to spend my winters in the mountains.
I am a member of the Google Engage for Agencies programme, which gives me access to resources and training from Google, as well as a limited number of free vouchers which I can make available to clients new to Google Adwords.
